Women’s Coaching Month – Candyce Wright

As a club we’ve been so proud of the development of our footballers on field, but as we celebrate Women’s Coaching Month it’s a great time to highlight the development of our coaches off-field!

Amanda Cellante, Stacey Peril and Kat Buzinskas are all doing amazing things developing their coaching, but Candyce Wright has continued her development over the past couple of seasons becoming the club’s first female senior coach, and graduate from our playing group into coaching.

Some of the players’ reflections on Candyce as a coach:

You’re so passionate about coaching and developing women’s sport. You’re a role model in the way you continue to grow and strive to improve yourself. You are caring and supportive to all members of the team and speak with such an open and honest approach. You’re a star.”

It’s the positivity, support and connection for me. The energy you bring to the club, how you focus on uplifting women in sport, the support you give to each and every person in our team. How you make us think and reflect about how we have grown, how you make us, not only believe, but you make us realise how strong we are individually, and as a team. We are so very lucky to have you as one of our coaches.

Watching you step into the Dev-Squad’s main coaching role has been inspiring. I know it was challenging for you to step out of playing out the season to take on this role – but you have absolutely taken it in your stride, and you have more than risen to the challenge. You know exactly what to say to keep us on track, always with our heads held high. Your support and composure have helped the team continue to grow week on week – celebrating each and every improvement and always ensuring we focus on having fun while we learn.”

An advocate for women’s football and an advocate for players, always has the best interest of players at the forefront of her decision making. Lucky to have you in our corner and advancing opportunities for women in footy.”

Every drill that Candyce runs at training is always so thought through and has a purpose! You are fantastic at explaining the drill and why we are doing it. Everything you present at training always is backed with so much passion! You are killing it!
